Mazda 2005

Bought my daughter a 2005 mazda 3 2.3 litre less than a year ago. Car now has 76 thousand kilometers. It now has rod knock. Do not want to put another 2.3 in due to the problems with them. The dealership that we bought it from will not do anything. She still owes a lot of money on it. I was wondering how hard it is to do the 2.5 engine swap. I am mechanically minded but am not a mechanic. Also would a 2015 2.5 litre work. I can get one with only 8 thousand kilometers on it cheap?
Thanks Aaron

I would highly advise the 2.5L swap. I just finished it myself and it was very fun and enjoyable! I purposely bought an 05' hatchback with a blown engine to do this and I couldn't be happier. Follow this thread here: http://www.mazda3forums.com/61-power...uccessful.html

I read the entire thing from page 1 through page 123 and I advise you do the same. You would be setting your daughter up with a stronger more powerful but mostly more reliable worry free engine. I bought one out of a 2011 Ford Fusion for $200 at the junkyard on a memorial day sale! With very low miles as well, I cant speak for the 15' engine but I do know that 07-12 are a direct drop in tried and true swap. The Late model 12-14ish some people needed the connector for the variable vale timing oil solenoid from the new engines wiring harness to be fitted to the mazdas harness because Ford changed the solenoid. Other than that they're the same simple swap. Let me know if you have any questions!
